We are advising all parishioners who can, to support the vulnerable and those who live alone by maintaining telephone contact and checking regularly on their needs. We believe that it is vital that all who profess the Christian faith act out their faith by helping others, especially during this difficult time.

If you are helping someone and you yourself need advice or reassurance, then contact Michael O’Brien on 07714401164.

May God bless your work and may positive outcomes result from your efforts.

Organisation Changes

With effect from Tuesday 5th May, Vernon Cuthbert took on the role of Priest-in-Charge of Whitburn Parish Church. This is in addition to also being Priest-in-Charge of Cleadon All Saints. Both are part time roles.

During an on-line service involving the Right Reverend Sarah Clark, Bishop of Jarrow, the Venerable Bob Cooper, Archdeacon of Sunderland, Lorraine Hood, Parish Pastoral Assistant, and the Churchwardens of Whitburn and Cleadon: John Shields; Michael O'Brien; Jennifer Grant; and Marie Philpott, Vernon Cuthbert was licensed to his new role.

We welcome him and look forward to his ministry, guidance and leadership. May God bless his ministry here.

When we are allowed to meet together in worship again there will also be a change in service times to allow Vernon to serve in both parishes. Here at Whitburn, our Sunday morning worship will take place at 11.00am whilst at All Saints, Cleadon, the worship will take place at 9.00am each Sunday.

Evensong will remain at 6.30pm each Sunday.

We thank Ian Davies for his ministry as our Interim Priest during the vacancy and look forward to his being with us as a retired priest.

  • A rich life of worship and prayer for our community
  • A commitment to helping and serving others
  • Making the Christian faith relevant and accessible for the world today
  • A ministry is rooted in the care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged
  • A strong musical tradition

Whitburn Parish Church exists to honour God by being an open and inclusive church that enables people to question and discover for themselves the significance of Jesus Christ.

The life and ministry of our Church is supported and underpinned by our mission to help others: through offering opportunities for different groups to meet such as our Hot Chocolate club for young people aged 11+, our monthly Men’s Breakfast Club and our rich social calendar which seeks to engage a range of groups from our community and beyond.

You are welcome to explore our website, and if you would like to come and join in any of our activities and services we would love to see you.
