Welcome to Whitburn Parish Church, a lively, open and inclusive church in Whitburn, SouthTyneside

At Whitburn Parish Church, which is part of the Diocese of Durham, we seek to offer our community a rich life of worship and prayer, including our regular services, a commitment to helping and serving others within the locality and further afield. We are also keen to develop the work of God further by ‘growing’ newer initiatives that will help children and their families.

We seek through our sermons, our various courses, our community life and pastoral care to make the Christian faith relevant and accessible for the world today.  Our aim is not to provide simple answers but to uphold one another in living with the questions, to seek the deeper truths, and to be a place of encounter between people and God.

Caring for our community

We are never stuck for volunteers or ‘givers’ who are willing to help out and support others in need or just take on jobs within the church community.

Our ministry is rooted in the care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged.  Today that is expressed through our support of Hospitality and Hope South Tyneside, Street Pastors and regular visits to local care homes.

We work in schools with young people in our local Whitburn Academy, Whitburn Primary School and Marsden Primary School, and are pleased that the children and staff engage with us both in church and in school.

The life and ministry of Whitburn Parish Church is supported and underpinned by our mission to help others: through offering opportunities for different groups to meet such as our Hot Chocolate club for young people aged 11+ ; our monthly Men’s Breakfast Club and our rich social calendar which seeks to engage a range of groups from our community and beyond.

Music at Whitburn

Music plays a large part of our worship and we are fortunate to have a working choir, a superb organist and an experienced choral director, all committed to producing high quality music.

This strong musical tradition is augmented from time to time by the contributions of children from our local primary schools.

Whitburn Parish Church exists to honour God by being an open and inclusive church that enables people to question and discover for themselves the significance of Jesus Christ.

You are welcome to come and join in any of our activities and services.
